Rob Ford Does His Best Captain Kirk Impression

While speaking of the imaginary congestion that plagues Eglinton Ave, Mayor Rob Ford thought he'd pay tribute to Star Trek's greatest (arguably) Captain: James T. Kirk.

Canadian Film Industry Raking In The Dough

From what the Hollywood Reporter is saying, Canada's stake in the movie/TV biz is rising. In 2011, the country earned some $5.49 billion -- rising 8.9% over 2010's numbers.

My home province of Ontario took a big chunk of that ($2.06 billion), placing third in North America's top production centres. Not too shabby.

Sci Fi Fashion Huh?

This dress is perfect for the cosplayer who has everything. Okay, maybe not perfect, but you'll certainly be turning heads in this mammarific outfit. Just make sure you watch where you point the nipple -- don't want to poke anybody's eye out.

Space Stallions: By The Power of Mother Stallion

This is for all of us who grew up during the 80s. Thanks to @fanboytv for bringing this tasty bit of Knerdery.

The Knerd Round Table

The CW is getting into the Sci Fi Romance scene with two new shows, Selection (from the pages of Kiera Cass's book) and Joey Dakota (based on Israeli show Danny Hollywood. Video Below).

Uh, maybe one of my Jewish friends can explain what's going on?

CW's also working on a Green Arrow pilot (geez, they're really trying to run the Sci Fi/Fantasy/Comic gambit, huh?). Suiting up as the hooded archer is Stephen Amell, who sharpened his Fantasy teeth on The Vampire Diaries.

DC comics announced earlier today that they will be launching "Before Watchmen" -- seven one-off issues that focuses on each member of this superhero squad (a la @feliciaday's The Guild). They'll be released this summer, leaving fans plenty of time to bitch about how much this idea sucks.

I'm not one for cutesy art of any kind, but I am a sucker for town/cityscapes. Plus, I think Fairy Town is something I'd like to buy for my daughter. Having already hooked her on DA2, don't imagine it would be a big stretch for me to turn her room into a shrine to all things Fantasy.

To finish off the very first Round Table, I thought we'd end with a bit of cosplay (I love me some cosplay, now). This photo comes to us from Ziggy B, and I must say, he's got one hell of an eye. Sadly, the name of this particular cosplayer remains a mystery. But, I don't think any of us will be forgetting that face any time soon.

Friendship Algorithm T on Amazon

Is it just me, or is The Big Bang Theory ripe with casual clothing-ready ideas. We've seen the Rock-Paper-Scissors-Lizard-Spock/Knock-Knock-Knock Penny! T-shirts, the Bazinga! Hoodie and now we get The Frienship Algorithm T-shirt.

One more thing to add to the Knerd-Must-Have-Now list.

Speculative Love: The Art of CELENG

With Valentine's Day a mere 2 weeks away -- and me being a romantic Knerd at heart -- I thought it appropriate to post some Sci Fi/Fantasy art that pays tribute to the day of martyred saints.

First up is The Sacred Rose, by CELENG. This artist has quite a few decent pieces, though the one below has me scratching my head while causing me to feel a funny in my pants.

What are the chances the Hawke sisters would get it on? And why isn't Bethany a romance option in DA2? Would the game hurt with a little Lannister-ish loving thrown in? I don think it would. But what do I know?
